It is safe to say that the Snow Gods followed through on their end of the deal this year as well over twenty feet of snow has piled up. This epic season has passed its mid-point but there is still fun and laughter to be had. Bluebird skies, spring skiing, live music, and a Closing Day celebration will make it a bit easier to put ski season 2015/16 in the books.
Beginning April 1, Steamboat is in full celebration mode. Think goggle tans, fabulous après ski, and some impressive headliners to jam out to at the base area. Art aficionados and admirers will enjoy strolling in downtown Steamboat gazing at pieces from local artists at the First Friday Artwalk. Making their return to Steamboat, Ozomatli joins the Bud Light Rocks the Boat Free Concert roster and will be sure to have the crowd dancing with their Latin, hip hop rhythm.
Just because Steamboat knows how to throw a party, the following weekend has even more action to get in on. A closing weekend staple that we always look forward to, the Cardboard Classic, is celebrating 36 years. Get a kick out of this wacky tradition that includes cardboard crafts racing down the slopes. The last day of the 2015-16 season will go out in fashion starting with the annual Pond Skim Competition, which sends those game gliding across a chilly pool of water decked out in costume, followed by an afternoon concert from Leftover Salmon. If the past is any indication, this will be one of the marquee musical events of the season.
